Meet Robert Patrick
Robert Patrick was elected to Doraville’s City Council representing District 1 in a special election held in 2012. Councilman Patrick campaigned on a platform of sound fiscal policy, transparency, good paying jobs, sustainable growth and beautified parks. Since taking office, Robert has risen to Mayor Pro-Tem while working diligently to deliver on his campaign goals.
As Councilman, Robert Patrick worked to make the former GM plant, now known as “The Assembly,” come into fruition, potentially bringing well over a billion dollars to the region. The Assembly development attracted Third Rail Studios which is currently open and filming, as well as the recently announced Serta Simmons Bedding relocation, a Fortune 400 company, that will bring 500 hundred new jobs to Doraville. Robert also supports the former Kmart project, a $135 million-dollar mixed-use commercial and housing redevelopment on Buford Highway.
Councilman Patrick is a vigorous proponent for a more pedestrian and bike friendly Doraville as supported in the New Peachtree Road redesign. This plan is designed around making our downtown streets safer while attracting quality redevelopment. Groundbreaking on this project will begin in early 2018.
Robert is a strong advocate of improving Doraville’s parks and green spaces. He supported the installation of soccer pitches in Halpern and Honey Suckle Parks. Robert also supports creation of the Parks and Walkability Master Plan. This plan will help guide future investment in the enhancement of Doraville’s quality of life, such as sidewalk installation/repairs, playground equipment, funding for children and senior citizens’ community activities.
To improve accessibility and transparency in city government, Councilman Patrick supported livestreaming City Council meetings on the city website along with providing agendas and a video archive of all previous meetings dating back to 2014.
Robert and his wife Mary have been Doraville residents for over a decade; together they share three wonderful kids, Robert Jr, Kate and Sylvia.
